Prof. Jiguang Wang is the Padma Harilela Associate Professor of Life Science, Associate Professor in the Division of Life Science and Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). He focuses on the application of data science in biology and medicine. His research interests include computational genomics, medical image analytics, machine learning, and precision medicine.
At Hong Kong Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (HKCeND), Prof. Wang has been using his data science expertise to computational study the clinical images and high-throughput genomic sequencing data, for the elucidation of disease mechanism and the exploration of potential drug targets in treating patients with Alzheimer’s disease.
Prof. Wang won the Excellent Young Scientist Award of National Natural Science Foundation of China in 2019 and the Zhong Nanshan Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award in 2021. Moreover, he has published over 30 papers in journals, including Cell, Nature, Nature Communications and Nature Genetics.
