We are seeking for a highly energetic and motivated Research Assistant/Associate to join the Hong Kong Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (HKCeND), based in the Hong Kong Science Park. HKCeND was established under the Health@InnoHK cluster for advanced research in neurodegenerative diseases. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to actively participate and contribute to the neuroimaging research in dementia or mild cognitive impairment (MCI). The appointee will support various research projects by conducting computational neuroimaging analyses. This is an excellent opportunity to immerse oneself into an inter-disciplinary field that brings together information technology with biology. The post is full-time.
Duties
- Manage and study neuroimaging data (MRI and/or PET data), and conduct literature review in related research
- Implement and/or optimize existing analysis pipelines and statistical methods with inputs from biologists and deliver insights from the data responsibly and timely
- Maintain good records of the data and analyses performed
- Complete tasks requested by the supervisor
Requirements
- A bachelor’s/master’s degree in physics, neuroscience, engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a closely related field
- Possess a background in one or more of the following areas: neuroimaging, image analysis, signal processing, statistical analysis, artificial intelligence, or related fields
- Experience with PET imaging data processing is a plus
- Proficient in a programming language such as MATLAB, Python, R, or C/C++ for data analysis and algorithm development is required
- Familiarity with neuroimaging software packages such as FSL, FreeSurfer, and/or other commonly used neuroimaging analysis tools is an advantage
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment
Salary and Benefits
A competitive salary will be commensurate with qualification and experience in addition to medical and dental benefits as well as annual leave. The appointment will be offered on a contract basis, renewable subject to mutual agreement and performance.
