Prof. Kin Ying Mok is a distinguished clinician-scientist with an extensive experience in clinical neurological service and neurogenetics research. Prof. Mok completed his MBBS at the University of Hong Kong in 1985 and subsequently received his neurology training in Hong Kong. He is a fellow of the Hong Kong College of Physicians and the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. Prof. Mok gradually transitioned from clinical neurological service to neurogenetics research. He obtained his PhD in neurogenetics from University College London (UCL) in 2013. Following his doctoral studies, Prof. Mok continued his research work in John Hardy’s laboratory at the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology and served as Principal Research Fellow before returning to Hong Kong. He was also the team lead in the East Asian Parkinson Disease Genomics Consortium. Currently, Prof. Mok is the Chief Medical Officer at Hong Kong Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases and Adjunct Professor of the Division of Life Science at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). His research interests focus on the areas of Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson disease. On the clinical side, Prof. Mok serves as a member in the training board of Genetics and Genomics (Medicine).
Prof. Mok has published multiple papers on the genetic aspects of neurological diseases including Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and motor neuron disease.
