A Research Assistant position is available within the Hong Kong Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases at the Hong Kong Science Park. The appointee will join a team dedicated to the utilization of human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC)-derived systems to model neurodegenerative diseases, ensuring that all procedures adhere to internationally accepted standards.
Duties
- Quality control of iPSC and iPSC-derived cells
- Maintain a quality-assured cell bank
- Organize and cryopreserve processed samples in liquid nitrogen tanks
- Facility maintenance including general upkeep, i.e. ordering supplies, maintaining inventory, and excellent record keeping
- Running both differentiation and phenotyping assays, including but not limited to: immunocytochemistry, imaging, western blot, RT-qPCR
- Involved in project specific tasks
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology/Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/Neurobiology or related field
- Experience with cell culture preferred; experience with iPSC is ideal
- Past research experience in cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, or neuroscience at undergraduate level or beyond is preferred
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, team-oriented
- Strong organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills
- Work over the weekend on rotation when needed
Salary and Benefits
Salary will be commensurate with relevant qualifications and experience. Medical and dental benefits, as well as annual leave, will be provided. The appointment will be offered on a one-year contract basis and renewable subject to mutual agreement and performance.
